  11. DEMO DESCRIPTION
  12. ----------------
  13. The demo is a fully interactive segment of the game, including rendered
  14. sequences, voice-overs, sound effects and musical soundtrack.
  15.  
  16. You play Devlin McCormack, a retired engineer who has been called to the
  17. Cerberus research station for the funeral of his son. After he arrives he
  18. discovers that his son's death was not an accident, and decides to investigate
  19. further.
  20.  
  21. But there is another murder, and Devlin is accused of the crime.
  22.  
  23. In this section from the game, Devlin is locked in the observation pod at the
  24. base of the space station, awaiting the next transport ship which will deliver
  25. him to the authorities.

  27. He must escape, so that he can prove his innocence and hunt down the real murderer.

  29. RUNNING THE DEMO
  30. ----------------
  31. Ensure that the current directory is the \ORION directory on the CD.
  32. Run SETUP.
  33. This will install the demo onto the player's hard drive.
  34. Type ORION to run game, or SETUP to reconfigure game options.

  38. 80386 33MHz or above
  39. VESA-compliant SuperVGA
  40. 1 Mb Hard Drive space
  41. At least 510K free Base Memory - more required for certain soundcard options
  42. At least 3Mb of Extended Memory (XMS) required
  43. (although interactive part of demo will run with less)
  44. Configuration possible with most soundcards

  46. PLAYING THE DEMO

  49. Move the cursor over the item you want to interact with. If you can, it's
  50. name will be printed by the cursor. You can click the left mouse button to
  51. bring up a menu of available options (if there is only one option it defaults
  52. to it automatically). Then, by either moving the mouse cursor over the options
  53. or cycling round them using the right mouse button, select the option you want
  54. with the left mouse button.

  56. The green arrow on the right of all option lists is for cancelling the
  57. interaction.

  59. If you move the cursor off the bottom of the screen you will access the
  60. Inventory. This can be deselected by either clicking on "Exit" or by moving the
  61. cursor back up to the play area. The Space Bar also toggles the Inventory on
  62. and off.
